CALL FOR MORE TRANSPARENCY ON CITY HOUSING WAITING LIST
Date Published: 25-Feb-2010
There’s a call for more transparency for people on the Housing Waiting List in the city.
At a meeting of the City Council this week, members were presented with the Quarterly Housing Report for the final three months of last year.
It shows that there are 2 thousand 600 people awaiting accommodation in the city, the highest figure in the Council’s history.
Councillor Derek Nolan asked city officials that people who apply for accommodation be given their number on the waiting list.
Councillor Colette Connolly says the Council needs to address the high level of refusals of accommodation being offered.
There are currently 87 vacant properties in the City Council’s Housing stock up to the end of December last.
