The Minister for the Enivironment, John Gormley, must provide the proper funding for the eradication of the aquatic plants threatening Galway’s waterways and lakes.

That’s according to Councillors Billy Cameron and Derek Nolan who proposed the motion at this week’s City Council meeting.

Councillor Cameron is concerned that the spread of plants such as African pondweed is damaging the Corrib and could pose a flood threat.
