CALL FOR COMMUNITY GARDAI TO PATROL CITY AREAS

Concern is being expressed about the lack of community Gardai in parts of the city in the evenings and at weekends.

Councillor Declan McDonnell says Gardai are assigned to patrol areas such as Mervue, Doughiska, Ballybane, Ballinfoyle and Renmore but are re-directed to other duties.

He says weekends are the most difficult for underage drinking and anti-social behaviour and at these times, community Gardai are assigned to other duties.
