Call for city road safety signs to be reinstated
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway City Council must reinstate road safety signs as a matter of priority according to Cllr. Declan McDonnell.
The Independent councillor says in 2008 the road safety signs which were in place at key points throughout the city were removed to allow for advertising of the Volvo Ocean Race.
Despite numerous efforts over the intervening 5 year period to have these signs replaced, to date no road safety sign has been put back up.
Cllr McDonnell says the poles to hold these signs are currently being used to advertise comedy festivals, the Christmas Market and other events around the city.
He points out while these are important in their own right they certainly don’t compare to saving a life.
