The local authorities need to erect better signs to help the public report illegal dumping.

That’s according to Fianna Fail City councillor Mary Leahy who’s highlighting the rise in fly-tipping along the outskirts of the city with people dumping old computer monitors and refuse along the grass margins.

She believes the lack of proper signs identifying the county boundary is preventing people from reporting the dumping to the correct authority.

Speaking to Keith Finnegan, Cllr Leahy called on the city council to provide signs with telephone numbers for the public to call and report illegal dumping promptly
