Concerns have been raised over the temporary closure of Arus Mhic Dara day care centre in Carraroe.

The day care service was put on hold this week due to staff shortages.

Galway West Sinn Fein Senator Trevor O’Clochartaigh visited the Connemara based facility yesterday and says agency staff cannot be deployed to cover the gap in the service due to current hiring restrictions.

However he says management and the HSE are now working to find resources which he hopes will provide a longterm solution to the problem.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, he says some flexibility is needed with staffing to ensure key community services are not impacted in this way.
