Bus lane for West Side gets the nod

A major breakthrough has been made in the provision of funding for a new multimillion euro bus corridor serving the western side of the city. Funding of €900,000 has been confirmed for the construction of a bus corridor along the Bishop O’Donnell and Seamus Quirke Roads.

Ciarán Hayes, City Council Director of Services in Transportation and Infrastructure, confirmed this week that the construction of the bus corridor would begin later this year.

According to Mr Hayes, the scheme will be completed next year with further applications for funding to be made in 2009.

In a letter to Deputy FrankFahey, Mr Hayes confirmed funding allocations of €500,000 under the Strategic Regional and Local Roads Grant, €200,000 under the Regional Bus Priority Scheme and another €200,000 from ………………….
