Building to start on new primary school in Oranmore
Galway bay fm newsroom – Construction of a new primary school in Oranmore will start in the coming weeks – 17 years after it was first mooted.
McNamara construction have been contracted to build a new two storey school to replace Maree national school.
There are currently 209 pupils at the 11 teacher school with around 80 of this number being taught in prefabs.
The new school will be built on the existing site where the hurling pitch is and is expected to be completed by Spring 2015.
Principal at Maree national school, Dermot Cleary announced the news at the school today and says staff, parents and children are thrilled.
