BROTHERS PLEAD GUILTY TO CONNING ELDERLY GALWAY CANCER PATIENT

Two conmen who extorted 400 thousand euro from an elderly cancer patient pleaded guilty to the offences at Galway Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.

42 year old Conor Murphy of 116 Castlepark, Ballybane, Galway pleaded guilty to 6 charges of theft and fraud.

He admitted getting 71 year old Mary Ellen Walsh of Oranmore, and more recently Craughwell, to make out 49 cheques to him totalling over 360 thousand euro.

His 46 year old brother, Jimmy Murphy with an address at Mallow, Co Cork pleaded guilty to two charges of extorting over 28 thousand euro from her.
