Brave pensioner fights off mugger in City attack

AN elderly city woman suffered a horrific experience when she was mugged outside her home around midday on Sunday and had a bicycle thrown on top of her.
Brave Teresa Cloherty from Bowling Green held onto herattacker for as long as she could
before he made his escape on foot – leaving his bicycle behind.
However, pensioner Teresa, a resident of Bowling Green for the past 50 years, said that she was still shaken and bruised after the incident.
The mugger, believed to be from Eastern Europe, was cycling in the area and had passed Teresa by before doubling back and asking her for directions to University Hospital Galway.
Teresa, who was admiring a few budding flowers in her garden,noticed that he was getting rather close to her and felt intimidated by the situation.
He then pushed the 71 years old woman to the ground and held onto her pocket which contained
her purse.
