Branar extends invite to a Rockin’ Christmas

Little Bo Peep, Little Jack Horner, Three Blind Mice Twinkle Twinkle and even The Owl and the Pussycat have been given a radically brilliant makeover by Branar Téatar do Pháistí in their show Rockin’ Rhymes.

And Rockin’ Rhymes will get a Christmas twist on Sunday, December 20, when Branar present it at the Black Box starting at 3pm. It’s an online performance that should lift even Scrooge’s heart.

Rockin’ Christmas which is being presented in association with nine arts venues around the country, features a fantastic five-piece band and proves yet again that when done well, children’s theatre plays second fiddle to nobody.

Helen Gregg on vocals, Grace Kiely on vocals and double bass, Miquel Barceló on vocals, guitar and ukulele, Michael Chang on vocals, viola, violin, mandolin and keyboard, and Rickie O’Neill on drums and percussion, are urging people to “push back the couch, jingle the bells and rock around the Christmas tree”.

This mix of festive favourites and rocking rhymes is geared at everyone from two to 102, and adults can marvel at how Branar have adapted these well-known rhymes for this good-humoured show while retaining the integrity of the originals.
