Police in Boston are trying to find suspects who were involved in an armed robbery close to where an Aran Islands native was killed earlier this week.

36 year old Ciarán Conneely from Inis Meáin was shot dead outside his home in Dorchester in the early hours of Monday.

He had been on his way home from an Irish heritage festival.

Ciarán, or ‘Kiwi’ as he was known in Dorchester, had been working as ‘undocumented’ in the construction industry in Boston for the past 12 years.

A wake will be held in Boston this evening with mass tomorrow, before Ciarán’s body is flown home to Ireland tomorrow evening.

One possibility being considered by police is that he could have been the victim of a botched robbery.
