BOOST FOR LOCAL ECONOMY WITH PLANS TO HOST MARITIME FESTIVAL

Millions of euro could be generated for the local economy as plans take shape to host another maritime festival next year.

Galway and the french city of Lorient have entered into talks on hosting a race between both locations in June 2011.

A delegation from Galway met with their French counterparts at the weekend to iron out details of this race, as well as the 2012 Volvo Ocean race.

It’s understood tourist packages will be put together to attract French people to stay over in Galway during the 2011 festival and vice versa.
