Date Published: 19-Apr-2012
Plans to provide an Irish language focused private nursing home in Castlegar to serve the east side of the city have been given a boost today
Junior Gaeltacht Minister Dinny McGinley has visited a similar 40 bed facility in Spiddal and is very impressed by the concept
Minister McGinley was brought to the Cois Fharraige facility by city cllr Frank Fahy who’s heading up the effort to have the nursing home built in Castlegar
Planning permission has been obtained and efforts are now underway to raise the necessary funds from the private sector and from bodies such as Udaras na Gaeltachta
Cllr Fahy says native speakers feel more comfortable in a facility where the Irish language has a high priority
