Bon Secours Sisters vow to engage with committee on Tuam children’s grave
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Bon Secours Sisters say they are committed to engaging with a local committee as constructively as they can on the Tuam children’s grave.
The order has issued a statement and said the Sisters were shocked and deeply saddened by recent reports about St Mary’s Mother and Baby Home, which operated in Tuam from 1925 to 1961.
The Sisters also welcomed the Government announcement to initiate an investigation, in an effort to establish the full truth of what happened.
The Children’s Minister has told the Dáil this evening that work is currently underway to try and figure out the best way for the State to respond to the matter.
Charlie Flanagan said the report will be back before the end of the month – and that it won’t be limited to Tuam:
Meanwhile, well know cleric Fr. Brian Darcy says the grave is as bad as anything that happened in Nazi Germany.
