BOGUS CITY TAXI DRIVER JAILED

A bogus taxi driver in the city, has been jailed for carrying passengers without a taxi licence or insurance and while drunk on three occasions.
32 year old Hussein Lwanga, a Ugandan national with an address at 81 Garran Ard, Doughiska, pleaded guilty at Galway District Court to driving while over the alcohol limit on three dates in 2007.
Lwanga also pleaded guilty to attempting to obtain a Job Seeker’s Allowance by presenting someone else’s British passport at a social welfare office in Galway.
Judge Mary Fahy imposed sentences totalling ten months, fines totalling €1900 and a six-year disqualification on the accused.
