BODY OF CARNMORE NATIVE FOUND ON CONNEMARA MOUNTAIN

The body of a Carnmore native man who died after a fall on a Connemara mountain has been found by Mayo Mountain Rescue team.

The man was among a group which went hiking yesterday in an area known locally as the Devil’s Mother near Leenane on the Galway-Mayo border.

The alarm was raised around teatime yesterday and members of Mayo Mountain Rescue set out at around 6 o’clock last evening to try to recover the man’s body.

The team in the last hour located the body of the Carnmore man who is believed to be in his fifties and are currently making their way to retrieve the body.
