Body found at Oranmore not believed to be that of missing teenager

An 18-year-old man is thought to have fallen into the River Corrib at O’Brien’s Bridge at around 11.30 last evening.

A major search operation was undertaken by the Garda water unit, Valentia Coast Guard and the RNLI.

Gardai have confirmed that a body of a man in his early twenties has been discovered near Oranmore.

The body has been taken to UHG, and a formal identification has yet to take place.

Meanwhile, searches are continuing for the 18-year-old male believed to have fallen into the water at Bridge Street last evening.
