Galway Bay fm newsroom – Plans have been lodged to upgrade the N59 road from Clifden to Maam Cross.
Galway County Council has lodged its application with An Bord Pleanála.
The development involves 29 kilometres of single carriageway in two sections west and east of Derrylea.
It will also see the provision of almost 12 kilometres of cyclist and pedestrian facilities.
A number of bus stops and amenity areas are also included in the plan as well as the widening and replacement of a number of bridges.
Last month, the local authority published notice of a compulsory purchase order for the scheme.
All public submissions must be made by Thursday the 9th of October.
An Bord Pleanála is due to make a decision on the plan in February next year .
