Board to assess 120 submissions on proposed port expansion
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Over 120 submissions have been forwarded to An Bord Pleanála regarding plans for a major extension to Galway port.
If approved, the 27 hectare extension will be carried out over four stages with the first due to begin next year at a cost of 52 million euro.
It will involve the relocation of the majority of the existing harbour related activities from the dock area to new deep water berths, quays and jetties.
The next step in the process will involve an oral hearing which is likely to take place in the city in late April or early May.
