Blue Teapot Theatre off to France for disabled artists’ festival

Blue Teapot Theatre Company will be joining European counterparts in Roubaix, France next week (January 23 to 27) for an inaugural theatre festival comprised exclusively of professional work made by intellectually disabled artists from Europe.

Crossing The Line Festival is headlined by three European companies Mooms Teatern (Sweden), Mind The Gap (UK) and Les Oiseau Mouche (France).

Blue Teapot will be represented by the cast of Sanctuary, the acclaimed feature film by Christian O’Reilly that won Best New Irish Feature Film on its first outing at the Galway Film Fleadh last year.

Based on Munster Avenue, Blue Teapot’s actors, all of whom have an intellectual disability, will  participate in the programme of events in workshops, film screenings, peer to peer discussions and the experience will kick-start the company’s Galway European Capital of Culture 2020 creative programme. Blue Teapot’s trip to France has been made possible with the support of Culture Ireland.
