BISHOP KIRBY RESISTS LAY CALL TO REMOVE ACCUSED PRIESTS FROM ESKER

A Galway Bishop has confirmed two elderly members of the Redemptorist community in Esker have had child sex abuse allegations made against them relating to over 30 years ago.

Bishop John Kirby of Clonfert has told Galway Bay FM News he’s satisfied the situation regarding the two priests is being managed correctly.

Neither of the two priests, who are believed to be in their early 70’s, is in ministry.

However a lay group appointed by the Bishop strongly advised Bishop Kirby that it was inappropriate for the priests to remain at Esker.
