Bish blast into semis

THE Bish appear to be back at the forefront of Schools rugby in Connacht following a comprehensive defeat of last year’s champions at Dangan on Wednesday.

A dominant pack and some intuitive backline play lay the ground work for a comfortable three try victory against a Garbally side that rarely threatened their rivals try line.

An upset was always on the cards in this encounter, but few could have predicted the magnitude of the defeat, with the Bish building up a 13-0 lead at half time, thanks to a brace of Tadgh Leader penalties and a Niall Conroy try and then securing the victory with tries from Conroy and Paul Connolly after the break.

For Garbally the realities of a new era without boarders at the famous school are starting to hit home and it might take some time nurturing the region’s next batch of young rugby talent, before they return to the top of Connacht Schools rugby.
