THE Bish comprehensively defeated Presentation Bray in the U16 ‘A’ All Ireland final in the NBA in Tallaght last Thursday to fulfil their dream of three consecutive National Championship basketball titles.

The Bish’s Irish International guards Patrick Lyons, Cathal Evans, Dylan Costelloe and Stephen O Brien were exceptional throughout the game and anyone of them could have won the coveted MVP award which went to Captain Patrick Lyons.

The young Second Years Peter Cooke and Padraig Doran were impressive on the court together. Point guard Seamus Garrity was composed when introduced and with Sean O Sullivan scoring two baskets in quick succession when he took up post duties alongside Padraig Doran, it was clearly going to be the Bish’s day.

The Bish, with a lead of 22 points heading into the closing minutes, were able to introduce all their players and Pam Ogundele, Conall Morgan and Sean Candon showed why they had each played so prominent a role throughout the long campaign defeating the best that Ireland could offer over the past three years.

This showed the depth of talent in the Bish team as they continued to put pressure on the Pres Bray team who never gave up and continued to contest every ball to the end. When the final whistle went, it was the Bish loyal supporters who had travelled in big numbers that had most to cheer about as their side brought the U16A Cup back to the city school to make it their third National Championship title in three years.
