Gardaí say they are concerned that a 26 year old man wanted in connection with a shooting in Ballybane last February, has left his jurisdiction.

John Paul Sweeney of 102 Fearann Rí, Doughiska has failed to abide by certain conditions as set down by the High Court for several months now.

He also failed to appear before Galway circuit criminal court this week so that a date could be set for his trial.

John Paul Sweeney is accused of being in possession of a single barrel shot gun, with intent to endanger life, at Castle Park Ballybane on February 21st 2009.

He’s further charged with causing serious harm to Thomas Mongan on the same date.
