Below par Galway sent packing

WHEN Wexford last visited Terryland Park a few seasons ago they were stuffed 6-2 with the home side three up in the opening quarter. How times have changed.
Since then they have entered a team in the Eircom League First Division and as such sent a second string to face the might of the West on Saturday. Based on 90 minutes viewing on a cold afternoon, the impression is that they have not improved a lot, but Galway have gone back in leaps and bounds.
There certainly would be more bottle in an empty crate at the back of the King’s Head, than the hosts displayed in this contest. Even the post match comment of manager Stephen Lally confirmed this as his summary: “We didn’t battle enough and didn’t deserve it,” just about summed up the home apathy.
While Galway produced a workmanlike opening half and were the better side, their display on the resumption was less than enthuastic. The team selection ……………..
