BELCLARE MAN DIES IN KNOCKDOEBEG CRASH

THE man who lost his life in a two vehicle collision at Knockdoebeg, on the road between Lackagh and Knockdoe, last evening is from Belclare.

He has been named locally as Sean Lenehan, aged 43, from Gurrane, Belclare.

He was pronounced dead at the scene after a collision involving his motorcycle and a car.

The accident happened at approximately 4.30 last evening (Saturday)on the side road off the N17 leading to Lackagh and about a mile from Lydon’s Cross.

Sean Lenehan was travelling from the Lackagh direction towards the N17 at the time.

His body was removed to University Hospital Galway. The woman who was driving the car was traumatised but uninjured.

A section of the road at the scene of the collision was closed off to facilitate a forensic investigation. This section of the road at Knockdoebeg has now re-opened.
