CITY TRIBUNE
Be King of Ballindooley Castle – for €10,000 per week!
Airbnb will help realise dreams of staying in a Galway City castle – but you’ll have to cough up over €10,000 for the privilege.
Ballindooley Castle on the Headford Road sold last December for €328,000 – €467,000 less than the initial asking price.
Now after nine months, it has just been added to huge array of accommodation available to rent on Airbnb.
But at €1,400 a night – with a minimum week-long rent – it will not be for the budget traveller who would baulk at forking out €10,330 for seven days.

The 15th century castle, which overlooks a turlough and is located 5km from the city centre, can accommodate at least seven guests in its six bedrooms and three bathrooms.
But it is pitched at a far higher price than other similar properties.
Two guest can stay at the old Mill in the beautifully renovated Claregalway Castle for €151 a night.
If you would prefer to have the entire demesne to yourself, then Kilcolgan Castle may fit the bill – it rents for a snip at €300 per night for five guests or more people and it is available for just a single night.
A comparably priced stay is in Turin Castle in Kilmaine, Co. Mayo which rents out the entire castle for 12 guests with five bedrooms and five bathrooms for €900 a night, with a minimum two-night stay at weekends.
However, it is not the most expensive property on the website in Galway City. The Asgard Guesthouse on College Road – accommodating 16 guests in 14 rooms, is listed at €3,000 a night if renting the whole house.
Killeen House in Bushypark costs €550 a night for its six bedrooms.
