BATS THREATEN BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION IN OUGHTEARD

Plans to build a new bridge over the Owenriff River in the village of Oughterard are being delayed because of questions about the environment.

Galway County Council has now been asked to carry out a study to see if there are bats in a nearby house, which may have to be knocked

However, that work cannot go ahead until a full study is carried out on the bats, which are a protected species
