Bathing ban placed on Ballyloughane beach
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A bathing ban has been placed on Ballyloughane beach in the city due to the discovery of high levels of intestinal enterococci.
The organisms were found following a water sampling exercise earlier this week.
Resamples have since been taken with preliminary results expected tomorrow afternoon.
The ‘Do not swim’ notice was placed at the amenity this afternoon and will remain in force until Friday.
A proposal to address ongoing contamination concerns at the beach on the east side of the city is to be brought forward by Irish Water in October.
