Basement battle ends in share of the spoils

FOR two sides who have conceded 54 league goals between them this season it was rather amazing that the defences were not breached more often, but then with neither side able to average even two goals per game it is understandable why both lie just above the relegation area.

However, the outcome was to please both camps as the point a piece gained leaves them tied on 13 points and two clear of Tuam Celtic with whom they are trying to avoid the drop from the Western Hygiene Supplies First Division.

The contest will be mainly remembered for the excellent shot stopping of Martin Rice and Darren Finn, while the home side will lament their failure to bypass the woodwork which they rattled on three occasions in the second half.

The loss of an hour due to the clocks going foward certainly did not effect either side as a bright opening saw both goals registered in the opening quarter.
