Barton’s EU run will open the field

THERE is mounting speculation that defeated General Election candidate, Dr. John Barton will be a Fine Gael candidate in next year’s European Elections.

And the popular Ballinasloe based consultant confirmed to The Connacht Tribune that he had been formally approached by the party to run andwas giving it ‘serious consideration’.

There is a feeling within the party that Dr. Barton will allow his name go forward to the party convention later this year as part of a two candidate ticket along with sitting MEP Jim Higgins in Mayo.
