BARNA’S TREASA NI CHEANNABHAIN SET FREE IN EGYPT

Treasa Ní Cheannabháin from Barna has this evening been set free from house arrest in Egypt

Treasa entered Gaza illegally last week with her daughter Naisrín to give out aid to hospitals and orphanages.

When they tried to cross the border back into Eygpt at a crossing at Rafah, they were turned away.

They were subsequently allowed the cross the border late last week, but Treasa Ní Cheannabháin was placed under house arrest at an hotel in Egypt

Her daughter Naisrín was not placed under house arrest because she’s an Eygptian citizen

Treasa’s husband who’s also an Egyptian citizen stayed with her and even though he was not put under house arrest his passport was confiscated to prevent him helping Treasa to leave
