A CITY centre barber shop has created a bit of a stir with a new novel promotion – offering their customers a free beer along with every haircut.

Fat Tony’s Barber shop on Middle Street is hoping the lure of a ‘swift half’ in the afternoon will attract passing trade and increase their customer base, particularly at the weekends.

Co-owner of the business, John McGuire, said they decided to start giving out a glass of Galway Hooker beer with each haircut in recent weeks to try and boost business in the Middle Street shop, which only opened late last year.

“We thought this would be a good promotion to run in conjunction with Galway Hooker beer. It’s an added extra for guys when they come in here, helping them to relax a bit more. They can have a beer and watch the sport on the TV while we do the rest.
