Ballinasloe soprano home for free gig
An up-and-coming soprano star of the world of music will make a triumphant return to her home town later this month – to give her old friends a taste of opera.
Ballinasloe native, Rachel Goode, is a Masters in Opera student at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where she is studying under the tutelage of the legendary Suzanne Murphy.
But she is back in her hometown on Tuesday week, August 23, at 1pm to perform a free lunchtime recital, ‘A Taste of Opera’ in the wonderful setting of the Church Gallery.
The 24 year old classically trained soprano has enjoyed considerable competitive success, winning numerous competitions for Opera, French Melodie, Oratorio, Art Song and Musical Theatre at Feis Ceoil Dublin, Feis Ceoil Sligo, Dublin Conservatory of Music and Drama Vocal Festival and the Royal Irish Academy of Music Vocal Festival.
Most recently Rachel made it to the final six singers in the €5,000 John McCormack Vocal Bursary competition at 2015 Feis Ceoil.
In 2013 Rachel was awarded a scholarship to attend Clandeboye Music Festival in Northern Ireland hosted by Camerata Ireland – and while at the festival Rachel attended one to one masterclasses with Ailish Tynan and won a £2,000 flax trust bursary.
Admission to ‘A Taste of Opera’ is free and all are welcome
