Ballinasloe households urged to secure fuel stores following reported thefts
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Households in the Ballinasloe area are being warned to secure their winter fuel supply following a number of alleged thefts from rural homes and turf banks.
Sinn Fein Cllr Dermot Connolly says elderly people are being targetted for fuel stores.
Reports have also been made of the theft of turf from a bog in the Poolboy/Derrymullen area where some three banks were cleared last week.
The site was on a private road with a chained and locked gate.
Speaking on Galway Talks, Cllr Connolly said rural bogowners and households need to be vigilant and secure their fuel supply.
