Balayage – a technique the preserve of our professionals
Health, beauty and lifestyle with Denise McNamara
So did you take the plunge and colour at home? Apparently, many of us did in desperation at the greys and regrowth. And the dramatic change could spell the end of many of our hair salons. Already struggling with the lack blow-dries and updos due to the curtailment of weddings, parties and christenings, hairdressers are noticing that more people are choosing to forgo their professional colour and opt for the pharmacy kits.
It’s a trend that L’Oréal Professionnel is aiming to address.
This month they launched their biggest solidarity initiative which they are calling: ‘French Balayage: Only In Salon’
The campaign is a €1m investment to drive support and help local salons to bounce back this summer. It includes tens of thousands of L’Oréal subsidised coupons where consumers can claim €10 off of their in-salon colour appointment.
“It’s a bit like eat out to help out but for your hair,” explained company spokesperson Beth McDaniel.
“Not only will this campaign support hairdressing professionals and salons who need our help to bounce back, it will also provide consumers with the confidence and wellbeing benefits which are more relevant now more than ever.
“A recent online survey also found that over two thirds of British adults who get their hair done professionally agree that having their hair done supports their mental health and wellbeing.”
