Bad Result leaves Connacht in crisis

THE LIGHT at the end of the tunnel is no longer visible for Connacht rugby as they slip deeper and deeper into the depths of despair.

Following a complete collapse at home to the worst team in the Magners League, it now looks possible that Connacht won’t win another game in this competition all season.

Rugby has never known such lows out west.

Connacht don’t look capable of beating any team in top level professional rugby at the moment and what is worse, many feel it isn’t simply down to the quality of personnel in the squad or the budget granted by the IRFU.

It’s hard to see what exactly can save the situation at this stage but the coaching staff’s stubborn selection policy and persistence with overseas flops over promising local talent is making the situation too much to take for most supporters.

Restlessness has given way to anger and the natives want action.

Forwell over a year now this Connacht side have been stifled by an over-structured game plan, which is completely alien to the energetic, off-the-cuff style rugby the province was once famed for.
