Baboró initiative to assist group bookings
Baboró Arts Festival for Children, which runs in Galway from October 11-19, is launching a new initiative to help more schools and groups to attend the event.
Culture for Schools is offering individuals and businesses the chance to send a school, class, or a group to a Baboró event – €100 will cover a class, while €1,000 will cater for a school.
Individuals or businesses can nominate the school, class, or group that they would like to support. Then they can decide their level of investment. Once paid, Baboró will co-ordinate the booking and the school or group will liaise with parents. For those who want to support this initiative but don’t have a group in mind, Baboró can pinpoint those who would love this gift.
There are plenty of shows in this year’s programme, which features companies from America, mainland Europe, the UK and Ireland.
A highlight promises to be Amococo, a spectacular inflatable, multi-coloured, domed maze at the Spanish Arch. This feast of light, colour, sound and design, suitable for all ages, costs €5 per person.
Free events include an exhibition at the KBC Bank Hub in Eyre Square, entitled Citizens of the World, Now about children’s rights to enjoy art and culture. It’s based on the idea that children have the right to enjoy all that art and culture has to offer. Eighteen cultural rights, inspired by the United Nations, are represented by18 beautifully illustrated panels. It’s already open.
