Award-winning young pianists in online show

Award-winning musicians Sae Yoon Chon and Dmytro Choni will take centre stage this Sunday afternoon February 28, in Pianist Showcase, the latest concert in the Music for Galway Bookends series. It will be available online for three days from 3pm on Sunday.

Sae Yoon Chon, originally from Korea, is the winner of the 2018 Dublin International Piano Competition while Ukrainian-born Dmytro Choni won the Santander International Piano Competition in the same year.

Describing them as “young and exciting artists of exceptional talent”, the Artistic Director of Music for Galway’s Finghin Collins says their choice of programme for Sunday  reflects this talent. They will perform major works by Beethoven, Liszt, Brahms, Schumann, Scriabin, Debussy and Rachmaninov.

“While we won’t be able to have them with us in person, we are grateful that they are ready to perform for us from Toronto and Graz, where they are continuing their studies,” he adds.

Each pisnidy will perform for about an hour for the event which will include an interval,

The concert will be available to access and purchase until Wednesday, March 3, at 3pm.
