AVIVA BALLOT TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK

The ballot on industrial action at Insurance company Aviva is expected to get underway next Tuesday.

Last night, around 180 staff at the Knocknacrarra call centre, echoed their Dublin counterparts sentiments and voted in favour of the ballot .

They also passed a motion of no confidence in Aviva management.

The meeting was called after the company announced that 950 people would lose their jobs over the next two years.

Trade union Unite will hold meetings at the Cork and Portlaoise branches over the coming days.

Regional officer with Unite is Brian Gallagher.

He says an invite has been issued to local TD’s to meet with Galway Aviva staff in the coming days..
