AUTHORITIES REMOVE TRAVELLER FAMILIES FROM BALLYBANE

A joint Garda and Galway city council operation has removed several Traveller families from a Ballybane housing estate.

Up to 40 Gardai, Bailiffs and city council officials moved in on traveller caravans illegally encamped at Fana Glas estate at dawn.

A number of City council officials, local authority services backed up by a heavy Garda presence moved in to the illegal encampment early this morning.

They towed two caravans to Carrowbrowne while two more moved off by themselves.
