Galway Bay fm newsroom – Athenry had the highest levels of rainfall in the country last month.
A large proportion of the area’s monthly total rainfall of 92.4 millimeters fell in a single day.
New figures from MET Eireann reveal that most areas experienced average levels of rainfall in July.
Roche’s Point in Cork only saw 18.8 millimeters of rain – making it its driest July since 2005.
Nationally, average temperatures were above their long-term averages by up to 1.3 degrees – with Malin Head reporting it’s warmest July in eight years.
MET Eireann’s John Eagleton says torrential downpours on July 19th contributed to Athenry’s high rainfall levels.
