ATHENRY PAY DISPUTE TO COME BEFORE RIGHTS COMMISSIONER
Date Published: 08-Feb-2012
A dispute over paycuts at the Western Alzheimers centre in Athenry is to come before a Rights Commissioner this Friday [Feb 10].
Up to 20 care assistants at the facility are calling for the reversal of a four percent cut to their hourly rate which was introduced last December.
The CEO of Western Alzheimers John Grant says that the cuts, which were taken across the board, were the only way to prevent job losses.
Paul Hardy of SIPTU trade union says a rights commissioner appointed by the Labour Relations Commision will be asked to review the case this Friday.
