ATHENRY HURLING CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE GETS GREEN LIGHT

Galway hurling has got a major boost.
The hurling board has been granted planning permission for a hurling centre of excellence at Mountain South, Athenry.
The centre set to be located close to the proposed route of the N6 Galway to Dublin road will be one of the biggest sporting projects ever undertaken in the West of Ireland.
The development involves a 2 storey sports hall, dressing rooms, gym, canteen, meeting room, offices,toilets, storage area and ancillary room.
Outdoors there will be an all weather-flood-lit training pitch, five grass training pitches and an all weather training pathway.
Internal roads, paths, street lighting, parking area, hurling walls, three shelters and fencing will also be built.
