Athenry have no answer to classy Cashel

IT was heartbreak, utter heartbreak for Athenry camogie when they were hit for 1-11 in the second half of the All-Ireland club senior decider at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick last Sunday.

While the Galway girls had trailed at the interval 0-7to 0- 5, the failure of Cashel to put Athenry away during their long periods of dominance in the opening half left a question mark over the perennial underachievers of this competition in recent times.

Yet Cashel were to answer their critics emphatically after the interval and the fire fighting attempts Athenry had employed in the first half were now futile against the blazing inferno of the Tipperary and Munster kingpins.
