ASH CLOUD GROUNDS GALWAY AIR PASSENGERS
Date Published: 04-May-2010
Flights at all Irish airlines, including Galway airport, will be grounded until at least lunchtime because of ash cloud drifting down from Iceland.
The Irish Aviation Authority says the restrictions have been imposed because a dense plume is travelling across the island.
Aer Lingus has cancelled all of its flights to and from the UK and Europe from now until 1 pm – while Ryanair has cancelled its scheduled flights to and from Ireland including Belfast and Derry from 6 am to 2 pm.
Aer Lingus plan to operate all its flights to the US with the exception of EI 105 from Dublin to New York.
All intending passengers are asked to check with their airlines before travelling to the airport this morning
