Arts council funding announced for Galway
Galway bay fm newsroom – The Galway Arts centre, the Town Hall theatre, Druid and Macnas are getting less money from the arts council this year compared to 2013.
Galway Arts centre takes a hit of 85 thousand euro from its 2013 grant receiving 165 thousand euro while the Town Hall theatre is down 16 thousand with funding of 130 thousand euro.
Druid is getting an impressive 762 thousand euro this year, however that’s a drop of 52 thousand on the 2013 allocation.
Meanwhile Macnas takes a loss of 17 thousand euro with funding of 245 thousand.
The Galway film centre’s annual funding is down 37 and a half thousand to 50 thousand euro this year.
However, the Galway Arts Festival has received an extra 20 thousand euro, a major boost for the organisation.
