Artists offering a visual take on diverse sounds around Kinvara
Kinvara Sounds, the latest exhibition from the Kinvara arts collective, KAVA, can now be viewed online
The original idea behind this theme was to give artists a visual forum where they could interpret the sounds that they associate with the Kinvara area, explains Terri Kelleher of the group.
“Now, it seems that it is a celebration of all the things we perhaps were taking for granted before the lockdown, or things we have come to appreciate because of it,” she says.
“Our members have submitted a selection of artworks that celebrate these sounds associated with their surroundings and we hope that viewers will enjoy them, and perhaps reflect on the sounds they miss, or have come to appreciate.”
The group has been holding its exhibitions online since the Covid-19 restrictions began in March but are hopeful that the usual venue of Kinvara Courthouse will be operational again soon, with whatever limitations are being implemented in the next phase of re-opening society.
Meanwhile, Kinvara Sounds is running on KAVA’s social media platforms, with a daily spotlight on each of the 10 participating artists and is also available in its entirety on the website www.kava.ie. It continues until Monday, May 18.
