Artist Harrie holds pop-up exhibition in Carnmore

The show features landscape and still-life works.

Artist Harrie McManus, a veteran of the Irish visual arts scene, will hold a three-day exhibition of her paintings at Conneely Framing Corner, Carnmore, from this Saturday to Monday, November 20-22. The exhibition will be officially opened by Minister of State, Hildegarde Naughton, TD, at 4pm this Saturday.

Originally from Dublin, Harrie has taught generations of budding artists to draw and paint, first as a teacher in Sutton Park School and Holy Faith School, Killester, then as RTÉ Artist in Residence on the daytime shows Live At 3 and P.M. Live for almost a decade.

She moved to Galway from Dublin in 2017 and this will be the second exhibition in her adopted home.  Having sworn that her previous exhibition would be her last one, Harrie found herself painting with renewed vigour during the Covid-19 lockdowns, especially during the first one. Harrie, who turned 80 during the early days of Covid, was cocooning and celebrated the occasion “by putting paint to canvas”.

Her new exhibition includes more than 40 oil paintings, mostly still-life and landscape, and Harrie has also included several pieces in pastels which have been attracting a lot of attention, she says.
